Who we are
Our Theme - Friends of the Holy Eucharist
“They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer”. Acts 2:42 The Eucharistic community is a group of people who already belong to each other through “One Lord, One Faith, and One Baptism” and we have members from all walks of life. We come together to celebrate, share, proclaim, and receive the life of one Body of Christ.
Our Journey
Friends of Holy Eucharistic ministry started on 15 November 2013 by FR. Clint MCBS. Our community consists of around 400 friends spread over Coorg in Karnataka, and Kasargod, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Ernakulam and Kottayam in Kerala. We have an online Eucharistic community in Mumbai and Israel. Our members of Eucharistic Community meet once a month in their respective areas.
Our Aim
Three core elements of what we do are how we operate are: 1. Prayer Group 2. Group of friends in action 3. Proclamation team With the continued support of our friends, we conduct activities related to the Holy Eucharist and proclaim Jesus to the world.
Monthly Meetings & Prayer Method
For us, monthly meetings are a celebration of the community of this ministry to meet, share, hear from our friends and pray together. The meetings are generally followed by fellowship tea. The prayer method broadly includes:
❖ Recitation of the Holy Rosary
❖ Talk on the Holy Eucharist
❖ Sharing of audio visuals related to the Holy Eucharist
❖ Sharing of the Eucharist experience of members
❖ Adoration and community prayer
❖ Thanksgiving
❖ Worship and community prayer
The Community of Friends of the Holy Eucharist consists of members from all walks of life, irrespective of any denomination, status, gender and age. We welcome you to join us as we celebrate and receive the life of one Body of Christ. “No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not understand what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, because everything I have learned from My Father, I have made known to you”. John 15:15 Two thousand years ago, Jesus declared this to his disciples and continued with us forever through the Holy Eucharist as a true living God and our best friend in this world. Yes, the everlasting friend! Where everything else is perishable, only the love of Christ is non-perishable and constant.
What we do
The Friends of the Holy Eucharist are committed and dedicated to spread Eucharistic Devotion throughout the World. Wings has been formed to share the passion of Holy Eucharist among various communities. Individuals will be chosen from their own communities to lead the Eucharistic activities.
Activities:
As part of our vision, here are activities that the ministry runs:
Soldiers of the Holy Eucharist – Youth team
“I have written to you, young men (and women), because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the wicked one.”
1 John 2:14
Our aim is to help and guide the youth to lead a life like Carlo and Agena George to love the Holy Eucharist. The youth are involved in meetings on a timely basis.
On Sundays, there are online prayers like Holy Rosary, and we also introduce people who have witnessed Eucharist miracles to share their experiences. There are 30 minute sessions to motivate youngsters and create a platform for them to share their experiences.
Carlos Mission
We also have full-time worship for the youth where young members are committed for one year’s services like our patron saint Carlo did. The youth conduct night vigil, exhibition of Holy Eucharist miracles, and accompany the relics (physical remains) of Carlo across. Through this, we create and spread awareness about the presence of living God in the Holy Eucharist. Secondly, we inspire people to attend the Holy Eucharist by promoting eucharistic miracles and signs. The team visits the parish regularly.
On Saturday nights, Eucharistic celebration is conducted for prisoners. It starts with the Holy Rosary, Holy Mass, class, audio visual and adoration. The aim is to strengthen the faith in the Holy Eucharist in people.
On Sundays, the group interacts with catechism students and helps them to strengthen their faith. Parents also participate in this session to understand the life of the young saint of this era. Our soldiers of the Holy Eucharist are in the front line to conduct this ministry, mainly the full time youth ministry. So far, we have covered more than 100 parishes.
Blessed Imelda Lambertini Mission
Through this mission, we help First Holy Communicants and their parents to prepare to receive Jesus. This one day service is conducted across parishes.
Blessed Imelda kept insisting to receive the First Holy Communion at the age of 5 onwards, but the custom in the 13th century was to receive the First Holy Communion at the age of 14.
At the age of 9, on May 12, 1333, the day of the vigil of the Ascension, she knelt in prayer and the "Light of the Host" was reportedly witnessed above her head by the Sacristan, who then fetched the priest so he could see.
After seeing this miracle, the priest felt compelled to admit her receiving the Eucharist. Immediately after receiving it, Imelda went back to her seat, and decided to stay after Mass and pray. Later, when a nun came to get her for supper, she found her still, kneeling with a smile on her face. The nun called her name, but she did not move, she lightly tapped Imelda on the shoulder, at which time Imelda collapsed to the floor, dead.
Carlos Bhavan - Media centre
The proposed site is at Vilakkannur and currently operated from Gurugulam, Chembanthotthi, at Kannur District. The youth members handle the media ministry and they interview and record the Eucharistic experiences of people and announce the same to the world through social media.
Retreats
Friends of the Eucharist also conducts one day retreats and three day retreats in various parishes mainly for the youth. This is based on the preaching - “The only God is Jesus, the only sacrifice is Holy Eucharist and the only true religious book is the Bible”.
Street Ministry is another part through which the members spread the word of God in streets.
